I think back to the summer Days as a young woman getting in my Car, turning the radio up, and letting the wind blow through. How I would just be basking in the peace of it all. When I became a grandmother, I loved to take my granddaughter for a drive, and I can still see her banging that little head up and down to the music as we drove through town, singing (she is in her twenties now). Oh, how I loved those days. I remember my sister and I were in a heated discussion about something I cannot remember, but I do remember she said, “You act like your car is your freedom.” My reply was “Yes, it is! It is the one thing that, no matter where I am, I can get in and leave if I am not comfortable.”
Jesus can be that same type of freedom for his children! For where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom(II Cor 3:17). Sometimes, instead of staying where we are not comfortable and taking in offenses of others, we need to get in the car with Jesus and turn up his voice! Just let HIS voice drown out all the other voices! Yes, our emotions will be in the car; they are a part of us! They do not need to drive! Give Jesus the wheel, sit in the passenger seat, and just bang that little head to the beat of praise! Let the holy spirit blow through, cleansing the soul of any root of bitterness that may be trying to plant itself in our souls!
He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord. He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him will I trust!! (Psalms 91:1-2)
