INTIMACY

I read today on my Calendar that James Robison said, “God does not want you to be afraid of Him. He is a loving Father, and He wants you to draw near to him and get to know him in the most intimate way.” While Jentzen Franklin said,” God does not have favorites, but he does have intimates.”  Today, one may question even what that means; it is defined in the bible as a close personal relationship. Which most people relate to sex. I personally do not believe sex has anything to do with intimacy. This physical action can take place with someone you do not even know that well. To be intimate, you must know that person deeply. Now I will admit and believe God knows me better than I even know myself. My goodness, he created me. No one knows me better. God desires to be known by us.

Doing some research on the subject, I ran across a YouTube video with this quote: “Intimacy without caring for the other person is like a dinner without dishes. Bodies are being fed, but no one is being served.”(Intimacy/Matt &Karen Kahn). This is how we try to operate. We want God to care and be a Good Father. But I must ask: “Do we care?” Are we good children? Do we really want to know what the heavenly Father thinks about it? Then do we care enough about him to honor that with our lives? I desire an intimate relationship with the Father. I want to show I care about him, not just me. I have had that type of one-sided relationship and felt the emptiness of it all. Are you feeling empty? It is time to look at why.

Honoring God is expressed through our attitudes, actions, and daily recognition of His greatness and love. I am not perfect! Guess what God knows that too. Today I am praying God help me! I want it to break my heart for HIM when I fail to honor him. Not because of what I look to get from him, but out of service and love for the love of my life and best friend. Help me, Father, find an intimate relationship with you that will cause my heart to operate with a Psalms 42 heartbeat! When David cried out, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before my God?’’
